Wedding Beauty Survival
Tips
We all want our big day to pass with no problems and most importantly we want
to look our best. Here are some of the best tips around to help you achieve
this.
Beauty
Tears of joy should not result in streaking mascara. Waterproof mascara
is a must!
False is the trick! A bride’s eyes will
stand out with false eyelashes. For a subtle effect, apply only a few
separate lashes on the outer corners, then add two coats of mascara.
Nail it! Ideally, a manicure should be
done the day before the wedding and a coat of clear on the day of the wedding.
Photo perfect lipstick! A bride and her
party should avoid glosses, since they fade. Which don’t photograph well and
tend to look dated. Think classic shades. For an ivory gown, peach
or soft brownish red tones work well and berry stained lips are best with a
white gown.
Hair
Hair rehearsal is important. Try a wedding
hairstyle and see how it holds up before the wedding. Have your regular
trim four weeks prior and book the wedding day appointment a month in advance
to make sure your stylist is available.
The lighting effect! If you are having
your hair highlighted. You should have it done a week before the wedding for
a fresh look.
Tiara! Since tiaras look best with hair
pulled away from the face, hair can be kept in place without looking sticky
or stiff by spraying a cotton ball with hair spray and lightly smoothing the
surface.
Misc.
Survival kit! All brides should have a
survival kit. You don't know what could go wrong. Let your matron of honour or
one of your bridesmaids carry it for you.
Shoe trick! Don't wait until your wedding day
to wear your new shoes, especially if they have high heels. Wear them
around the house for at least a week before the big day.
The last but definitely the most important!
Be prepared for the unexpected. Relax and enjoy the biggest day of your life.
Beautiful Eyes
by John Russel
Beautiful skin care starts with what people notice first. Eyes are what
others notice immediately; so start your skin care program eye-to-eye!
Here are four major skin care issues related to eye care, work them successfully
and look 20 years younger.
Dark Circles
Check the color of your circles. If they’re blue or gray, allergies or pooling
blood may be to blame. Receive the firming, moisturizing, and corrective
benefits (including the reduction in appearance of dark circles) of just
released DNA Repair Creme, found at www.ihdistribution.com.
Undereye Puffiness
To beat those bags, diagnose the cause: If you’re puffy only upon awakening,
fluid retention is the likely cause; sleeping on two pillows can prevent liquids
from pooling. Been using a new face cream or rubbing your eyes? These can cause
swelling. A gel that contains a blood-vessel constrictor, like witch hazel, and
an anti-inflammatory, like chamomile extract, can temporarily reduce irritation.
Or make a home remedy: Mix one drop each of witch hazel, brewed chamomile tea,
and over-the-counter cortisone lotion. If you’ve got time, lay a cucumber
slice on top to help the paste penetrate better. If puff is always present, try
IH Distribution’s DNA Repair Creme to reduce puffiness and repair the delicate
tissue around the eye.
Crow’s Feet
When you smile, your eyes pay a price – the muscles around them contract, and
a little elasticity is lost. Combine that with sun exposure and, in about 30
years, you’ve got crow’s feet. DNA Repair Crème, found at
www.ihdistribution.com, is effective to repair fine lines and wrinkles around
the eye. The products are natural and botanical-based.
Drooping
Most firming creams have little, if any, effect on sagginess – so this is a
job for cosmetics, strategically applied to define and visually “lift” the
eyes. First choose a shadow palette:
1. Apply the midtone from lashline to crease. This adds soft shading to your
lids.
2. To draw attention to the highest part of your arch, dust the light, shimmery
color along browbone, starting from middle of brow and blending outward.
3. Sweep the darkest color over your crease, blending into the midtone, then
toward the inner corner of your brow. (This softens the harshness of using the
dark tone alone.)
4. Line your upper lashes with the darkest shade, intensifying the color and
slightly flaring it up at the outer edge. Finish off with a curling mascara to
open up your eyes.
5. You can find a vast assortment of eye shadow colors produced from cucumber
and aloe extracts that are designed to soothe and moisturize lids.
Eye Color Hints – Big Impact!
1. Enhance your eye hue with a single contrasting shadow shade. For blue or icy
green eyes, choose a warm, yellow-based hue; for brown or olive-y eyes, opt for
a cool, red-based shadow.
2. Perk up dull eyes. Irises lose pigment as you age, but brightening your hair
helps compensate, says Boston colorist Michael Perry. To achieve, use a
shine-enhancing shampoo (try IH Distribution’s Self-Adjusting Shampoo &
Conditioner).
3. Neutralize blue or gray circles with a yellow-based concealer. Cover-ups with
a drier consistency often have more pigment.
4. Offset bloodshot eyes. Blue liner works, but it can look unnatural. Better:
Glide a neutral eyeliner (brown or black) along upper lashlines, then apply a
blue liner on top; blend.
5. Groom ragged brows: They can accentuate droop. For quick cleanup, use a
colored brow wand to thicken and add arch.
Control Tips
How you live affects your eyes. So to keep yours looking good, consider changing
some daily habits.
1. Perfume. If your eyes are sensitive, fragrance can make them red. To diminish
this effect without giving up scent, avoid classic spots - like behind your ears
– that are too close to your eyes.
2. Diet. On a low carb. plan? It’s dehydrating (to metabolize the extra
protein, your body uses more water) – and your eyes may show it. Compensate by
drinking ten glasses of water each day, two more than what’s usually
recommended.
3. Prescriptions. High blood pressure medicines and antihistamines for allergies
can dry your eyes. Rehydrate with drops sans preservatives (they can be
irritating) and, if you wear contacts, a moisturizing cleaning solution.
4. Exercise. When sweat drips into your eyes, so do dirt and oils and rubbing
your eyes with your fingers can start an infection. Instead dab sweat with a
towel and try to wear a sweatband.

How To Look Great On Your Wedding Day
by Melanie Mendelson
Looking great on your wedding day means being radiant, relaxed, and ready to start a brand new existence with the person whom you've chosen to spend your life with. Your hair, nails, makeup, dress – and how you look in that dress – are all part of becoming the bride you want to be on that special day. Since pictures taken on that day remain part of your life forever, it's important to look and feel your best.
Your dress is one of the most important items in your wedding plans, so make sure you take enough time to choose one that suits you – not your best friend, not your bridesmaids, and not your mother. For the day of your wedding, you'll want a dress in which you can stand, walk and dance in without worrying about "wardrobe malfunctions" or causing you discomfort. Allow necessary time if you decide on having the dress made, but even if bought "off the rack," you'll need to factor in time for tailoring and any adjustments.
You don't want to overpower your dress and headpiece with a flamboyant hair style or color that overwhelms everything else. Keep it simple and classic, and remember to practice the look you want at home or with your stylist before the wedding day.
Have your nails professionally manicured the day before the wedding. This is one thing you don't want to do far in advance. Reduce the chances of a broken nail, chipped polish, or if using applied nails, one coming off, by having your manicure as late as possible. If you are not inclined toward
coloured polishes or long fingernails, make sure they are neatly trimmed, filed, polished, and buffed. Your hands will be a focus of attention when showing off that new wedding ring and for photos!
Makeup is the last thing you'll need to worry over, and that comes on the big day, itself. Don't try to transform yourself into a different person with dramatic eye makeup or garish lipstick. Make the real you look better!
Use a slightly heavier hand than with your usual daytime makeup so your photos won't have you appearing washed-out looking, but don't overdo it. And if your wedding is at night, with more subtle lighting, apply makeup as though you were going to a club or restaurant at night – a little heavier than daytime, but not much! Avoid deep red lipstick as well as too-pale pink. Frosted
eye shadows or lipsticks are definite no-nos.
Buy fresh mascara to avoid clumping. Also, if you have sensitive skin, this is NOT the time to try a new brand. The last thing you want to do is head for the altar with blotches or zits thanks to an allergic reaction.
The night before your wedding is not the time for partying so get eight hours of restful sleep. If you're having a rehearsal dinner, or a bachelorette bash, make sure that it ends early. Drink moderately or, better yet, not at all. Bloodshot eyes and a banging hangover will not make for a fun wedding.
Don't gorge yourself the night before because we all know that there are strange forces at work which will try to make your wedding gown just a wee bit snug in the morning. To overcome excitement and nerves, try taking a long walk -it can help with pre-nuptial jitters. A relaxing bath with soothing background music, a cup of herbal tea, and you should be ready to doze off with images of a happy future marriage in your dreams.
With these tips, you're sure to have the perfect wedding day. May this day be the beginning of a lifetime of joy and happiness!
