PARENTS
OF THE BRIDE generally pay
for everything needed for the reception, including music, flowers, the reception
facility, food, bar costs, and anything else.
This comes from

Traditional Roles for Financing a Wedding
THE BRIDE generally
pays for the groom's wedding ring, a luncheon or party for her
bridesmaids, a wedding gift for her future husband, and gifts for the
bridesmaids.
THE GROOM generally pays
for engagement ring and the bride's wedding rings, any fees for the marriage
license and/or other legal documents. He also finances the costs of the
honeymoon, a wedding gift for his future wife, the clergy fee, and
transportation.
THE BRIDESMAIDS and
MAID OF HONOUR generally pay for the bridal shower. They also pay for their
own gowns and accessories.
THE
BEST MAN
generally pays for the
bachelor party and for their own tuxedos or other formal wear.

OF THE GROOM generally give
a generous gift to the couple.

These are not rules but merely guidelines. Your own
personal finances will dictate what type of wedding reception you have, and who
pays for what is entirely up to you and your families.
Some couples will have saved hard over a number of years
for their big day. Parents of the bride or groom may have taken out insurance
policies designed to cover the costs of their son or daughter's wedding.
 However,
the unexpected can always happen. Money set aside for the big day might have
been spent on an unexpected emergence or multiple weddings in the same family
can put a strain on the most thrifty and far sighted parents of the bride or
groom.
In many cases obtaining finance for the big day will be
the only alternative to seeing your loved ones "getting married on a

The traditional wedding! Often the dream of every little girl, the traditional wedding fills one's imagination with long flowing lace, yards of white satin, the fragrance of a thousand white flowers tied with pink bows, and a wedding cake with at least five tiers of iced heaven. And along with such a vision comes a financial picture that staggers the imagination of those who pay the bills. While the thought of planning a wedding within the boundaries of a budget can bring tears to a bride, knowing how to do some special planning can dry those tears and bring a joyous delight.
The budget will always remain one of the most important aspects of wedding planning. Working with the budget at this point gives wonderful life-time experience to the bride, for all lives are influenced by a budget and now is the time to really get a handle on them. Where years ago the bride's family always paid for the wedding, now-a-days this expense is often shared by all concerned - the working bride, the working groom - and all parents.
Regardless of who picks up the cost, budgeting allocates an exact amount of money to each expense and there are no financial surprises that can ruin the wedding itself. Books expound upon the dozens of ways to create wedding budgets. Read them all over. Each will offer you some wise pockets of knowledge.
The rehearsal dinner allows for a tremendous celebration of the event. All can gather together to share memories and laughs and hopes and dreams.
